Jungle Trekking

Just this afternoon, after my last posting, we took the 50 cent boat across the river into the National Park where we trekked 2 km to the canopy bridges, walking up on teetering rope and wooden creations high above the jungle floor. Unfortunately there were no animal spottings, except for a butterfly!! However, on the walk back, once inside the resort area we saw a foot long lizard and lots of monkeys in the trees! It is hot like crazy here, sweating buckets, and we just finished a snack of rice and cold drinks on the floating restaurant.

Trekking in the jungle was quite amusing, as we were all slightly nervous going in due to the fact that we have no idea what is out there, unlike the good old rockies where you KNOW there are grizzlies!!! After joking that there are no bears to get us here, we discovered at lunch that there are indeed bears in Malaysia!!

Hi Sarah,
Your travels sound wonderful. So many sights and sounds differant from home. The experience will keep you alert and open to new learning.
Are you saving these for a book someday?
Any visits to textile markets as the batiks/fabrics are very unique from the places you are visiting.
Is it Ramadan for the Muslims this month? They can only eat/drink between sundown and sunrise which makes it a long day fasting.
